I suggest that you take the machine to Apple store and have it inspected.Share on Facebook Share on Pinterest Share on Twitter I'll know by Tuesday and inform the Apple store accordingly. I haven't authorized them to repair yet because it's a work notebook and I'm seeing advise from my company. If the machine works after replacing the logic board, then they won't need to replace the other components. They would need to replace it and it would cost about S$700-$800. This Friday they called me and said that they opened the machine and found burn marks on the logic board. He quoted about Singapore $500 for the repair. The fans and other smaller components may need to be replaced too. He didn't open the machine, but said that based on his experience, it appears to be a power supply and battery issue.

After another long wait, another technician came to see the machine. Next morning (last Sunday), I took it back to the Apple store. I immediately removed the charger as I knew something inside the machine had fried. It was immediately followed by a strong burning smell. I unplugged the charger and put it back again, the orange light turned on for a second or so before I heard 2-3 more noises from the machine. The light on the charger turned off at that point. But while it was on the charger for about 30 mins, I heard a sound from inside the machine as if some component blew off. I left it on the charger with the orange light on, hoping that when it turns green, the machine may turn on again. I tried NVRAM and SMC resets several times, but it won't turn on again. It worked well from Mon through Fri, but on Saturday morning, the same thing happened again. This was on Sunday afternoon exactly 2 weeks ago. After that I brought the machine back home. Then he put the battery back in, did NVRAM reset again and this time it turned on. According to him, it still didn't turn on. Then he took it inside to their repair area and plugged out the battery. He tried the same things I had tried, but it won't turn on. They made me wait 4+ hours after which one of the technicians came to take a look.

I took it to the Apple store (without prior appointment). I tried SMC and NVRAM reset multiple times but it won't turn on at all. I have the same model purchased in June 2015 and had the same symptoms as yours 2 weeks exactly 2 weeks ago. I suggest you to take it to the Apple store and have them inspect it. The machine is still under repair with Apple. It turned out that the logic board was gone. Tl dr I have the same model and had the exact same symptoms.
